Stewart Hicks & Allison Newmeyer

Character

This week is a conversation with Stewart Hicks and Allison Newmeyer of Design with Company and we’re talking about the idea of architecture and character.

Throughout the episode you’ll hear discussion about how architecture can be thought to have character and what that might mean and why that might be of importance when thinking about the design phase of works.

As a point of departure, we’re talking about an edited volume that Stewart and Allison edited called Character. This Character’ issue comes from MAS Context which is a platform founded by Iker Gil in Chicago. This is a platform that produces not only a series of publications but also events and a range of discourse within design. If you are not familiar with the work Iker Gil does with Mas Context, it is definitely worth your time to have a look.

As you might figure out during the course of this conversation, Stewart, Allison and myself are good friends so it was great speaking with them!
